The Cats has a history of ballet shoes heels lending a hand to those in need: Following Hurricane Katrina, the venue hosted a similar event, “That was one of the last big shows before The Cats closed for remodeling,” notes Lee Kopp, who serves as marketing director and publicist for Ballet San Jose and will be accompanying the Harvilles and Stevens on harmonica, “Normally The Cats isn’t open until Sunday evening,” Kopp adds, “but as soon as the owners were approached about this event, they immediately agreed to open up in the afternoon, The cool thing is that Joe Ferrara has played with everyone who’s going to be on that stage that day, so he’ll jump in and out as the mood strikes him, And then when we’re through he’ll play his normal Sunday night set.”..

One thing that stayed the same, thank goodness, is host Tom Bergeron, who is again joined by Erin Andrews. While some people didn’t care for Erin last season, I really enjoyed her attitude and ability to be spontaneous. You may know Laguna Beach for the sun-kissed volleyball players along Main Beach, but it is also widely recognized as one of the state’s most vibrant art colonies. Potters, painters and glass-blowers are inspired by this coastal hamlet’s beaches and rolling hills. It is home to dozens of chic art galleries and nationally renowned art festivals, as well as the Laguna College of Art and Design. Can we make a suggestion? In between soaking up all that art, don’t forget to dig your toes into the sand, grab a spicy mushroom tofu burger at Taco Loco and check out the abundant sea life in the tide pools just north of Main Beach.
